We will visit the different habitats that exist both within
the national park and in its surroundings to observe the widest possible
variety of birds, from the raptors and the small passerines.
In the rocky outcrops
and in its surroundings covered by a dense forest and Mediterranean scrub
we will observe birds such as the
Black Stork, Egyptian vulture, Iberian Imperial Eagle, Black Vulture, Peregrine
Falcon and even Eagle Owl. Also other smaller birds such as Blue Rock Thrush,
Rock Bunting, Red-rumped Swallow or the rare White-rumped Swift.
In Mediterranean
scrub areas we can find birds such as the Black-eared Wheatear and several
species of warblers, such as the Dartford Warbler,
Subalpine Warbler, Sardinian Warbler and Spectacled Warbler.
In the open woodland of cork oaks
(dehesa), we will be able to observe Woodchat Shrikes, Bee-eaters, Hoopoe,
Rock Sparrow, Lesser Spotted Woodpecker and listen to the song
of the Orphean Warbler in spring.
Along with some of the streams
of Monfragüe, we can see the typical
riparian vegetation and see some of the birds that inhabit it, such as Golden
Oriole, Short-toed Treecreeper, Cirl Bunting and Melodius Warbler.
